Policies and Procedures

Settling in procedure

We have a flexible settling in procedure. You are entitled to two free visits. The first visit will be approximately 1 hour with yourself. The second visit, you will be encouraged to leave your child a short time. If your child does not settle quickly, further visits can be arranged as appropriate until you feel your child is ready. For peace of mind you can telephone throughout the day.

Illness

If your child is ill and does not attend nursery, you will be required to pay full normal rates.

We would appreciate your co-operation in keeping your child at home if he/she is ill for whatever reason.

If you have given your child Calpol, they will not be allowed  into nursery that day. If Calpol needs to be given at nursery, you will need to collect your child as soon as you can and your child will not be allowed  into nursery the next day.

Your child needs to be 48 hours clear after having had any kind of sickness or diarrhoea. This is to prevent other children or staff contracting it.

Full details of incubation periods are located in the main entrance of the nursery Parent/Carers will be informed of any contagious illnesses within your child's room and a sign will be displayed on the main nursery door.

Dropping off and collecting procedure

You need to inform the nursery if someone else other than the person who brought the child is collecting them, or if your child will not be attending nursery.

The nursery has a large car park which we request you use when you bring and collect your child. The car park is situated at the rear of the nursery.

Medication

Should your child require medication whilst in our care, you will need to inform a member of staff who will fill out a medication form with you and take the medication into a safe place away from the children's reach. We are only allowed to give your child medication that is prescribed by a doctor and will follow the doctors instruction on the label.

Medication should not be left in the child's bag, this poses as a serious hazard to other children.

You will be asked to sign a form each day to say you have acknowledged that your child has received their medication with the correct dose and the last time given.

If your child is given a new medication, we ask that they have the first 3 days at home. If your child has had this medication before, we ask that your child has the first 3 doses at home first before having it at nursery.

Policies and procedures

We have a full set of policies and procedures available for Parent/Carers.

Complaints policy

Our complaints policy is displayed in the main entrance of the nursery. If you have a complaint, you can either go to your child's key person or go directly to the manager. The manager is always available to talk to you. She will discuss any aspect of the nursery you are not entirely happy with.

If you would like to leave feedback for the nursery, we have a feedback form on the website.

Accident and incidents

It is an OFSTED requirement that we record all accidents occurring in the nursery and we also need to be informed of any accidents occurring at home. To safeguard the children, we record and report any concerns we have about a child's welfare.
