About Us
Your Child Is In Great Hands

About us
Where little feet make big steps!
Good Foundations is a charity-run nursery in Carlton where children and families are welcomed into a safe, loving, and inspiring environment.
We believe that children learn best when they feel happy, secure, and valued. Through play-based learning and positive relationships, each child is nurtured, encouraged, and celebrated as they learn, grow, and flourish in their early years.
Our four dedicated rooms are thoughtfully designed for different age groups, offering engaging and developmentally appropriate experiences.
Our friendly and experienced staff work in close partnership with parents and carers, recognising that strong relationships between home and nursery are key to every child’s success.
Together, we support children to build confidence, form friendships, and take their next steps with assurance as they prepare for school.
At Good Foundations, children create lasting memories in a place that feels like a home away from home.
Background
Good Foundations Day Nursery first opened its doors on 24th October 1995 and has proudly supported children and families in the local community for 30 years. We are registered with Ofsted and provide care for up to 72 children, aged from 6 weeks to 4 years.
Our dedicated team brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the nursery, with many staff members trained in paediatric first aid. All staff have completed the required DBS checks, ensuring children are cared for in a safe and secure environment.
We place great importance on creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere where children feel comfortable, settled, and confident. Families can feel reassured knowing their children are nurtured by a caring and professional team committed to delivering high-quality care and learning every day
Aims
Our aim is to create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment where every child feels valued, supported, and confident to achieve their full potential.
We place strong emphasis on building secure relationships, as we believe children learn best when they feel happy and emotionally secure. Our friendly, skilled, and dedicated staff provide high-quality care within a fun and loving atmosphere, encouraging curiosity, independence, and a lifelong love of learning.
Through thoughtful practice and positive role modelling, we support each child’s individual needs and development, laying strong foundations for their future learning and wellbeing.
Learning and development
Children learn through play in a way that feels natural, enjoyable, and meaningful. Our play-based curriculum follows the Early Years Foundation Stage, ensuring your child’s learning and development are supported across all key areas.
We take time to get to know each child, carefully observing their interests, strengths, and next steps. This allows us to plan experiences that are tailored to your child as an individual, helping them to feel confident, curious, and engaged in their learning.
Our daily routines are flexible and responsive, recognising that every child is unique. Children are encouraged to make choices, develop independence, and explore at their own pace, while also taking part in guided activities that support their learning, confidence, and preparation for the next stage of their journey.

Partnership with Parent/Carers
We believe that parents and carers are a child’s first and most important educators, and we value the vital role you play in your child’s learning and development. At Good Foundations, we are committed to working in close partnership with families to ensure every child receives consistent, supportive, and high-quality care.
We welcome open communication and encourage parents and carers to share feedback, ideas, and suggestions. This can be done by speaking directly with the Manager, sending an email, or completing the feedback form available on our website, which may also be submitted anonymously if preferred.
Each child is assigned a dedicated key person who is responsible for supporting and monitoring their development. Parents and carers are encouraged to arrange meetings with their child’s key person to discuss progress, next steps, and any questions or concerns.
Families can also contribute to their child’s learning journey through the Blossom app. By selecting ‘Journey’ and then ‘Home Observations’, parents and carers can share achievements, experiences, and milestones from home, helping us to build a complete picture of each child’s development.

Equality of opportunity
We warmly welcome all children and families and are committed to providing an inclusive, supportive environment where everyone feels valued and respected.
We recognise that every child is unique, with their own interests, abilities, and learning style. Our activities and experiences are thoughtfully planned to meet individual needs, allowing children to learn and develop at their own pace. Through positive encouragement, praise, and support, we help children build confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of self-worth.
We celebrate the diversity of our families and the wider community by recognising a range of cultural traditions and festivals throughout the year. These experiences help children develop an understanding of the world around them and promote a sense of belonging, kindness, and respect for others within our nursery.
