Nursery closure

We are closed every bank holiday and normal fees are charged. We are also closed for one week at Christmas and this week is not charged.

Extra Sessions

If you wish to reserve an extra session for your child, it would be helpful if you could inform us as soon as possible. One weeks notice is preferable but not always essential.

Government funded session

All 3 and 4 year old are entitled to Government funding. This currently entitles you to 15 hours a week of funded childcare. 2 Year olds are now eligible for working families 15 hour funded children. Please visit Childcare Choices website to check eligibility.

Partnership with Parent/Carers

We believe that Parent/Carers are the primary educators of their children and should be centrally involved in their child's experiences and development. We want to work in partnership with you, and for you to be happy with what we do and how we do it. We welcome any feedback and suggestions and have a feedback form on the website that can be filled in as anonymous if preferred. Each child is allocated a key person who will let you know what your child has been doing and how they are progressing. The key person will share information on a daily basis or more formally during parent's evenings. Parents are invited to contribute to their own child's records.

Equality of opportunity

All children and families are welcomed in our nursery. We differentiate our activities to meet the individual needs of all children. Children are able to grow and develop at their own pace, with lots of encouragement and praise. We enjoy celebrating the different festivals that are within the multi-cultural society around us.

FAQ

What to bring to nursery

It's always handy to bring a bag to nursery. In this bag should include:

  • A few changes of clothes - Just in case your child participates in a messy play or has an accident.

  • A comforter - If your child has a dummy or blanket  to help settle them in.

  • Nappies, nappy cream and wipes.

  • A water bottle - If you prefer your child to use their own cup or bottle. We ask that these be filled with water or flavoured water please.

  • Coats, sun hats, sun cream - It's always good to be prepared for whatever weather.

  • Medication - If your child needs medication, please do not put it in their bag as this is a serious hazard to other children. Give it to a member of staff instead who will fill a form out for you.

  • Food - Please do not bring food from home into the nursery or in your child's bag. This is to ensure the safety and welfare of other children in the room that may have a serious allergy.

  • What time does the nursery open and close?
Our nursery opens its doors to the children at 8:00 am and closes at 6:00 pm. We kindly ask that parents and carers allow enough time to collect their child before closing. To ensure a smooth handover and receive a full update on your child's day, please arrive before 5:50 pm, as our staff will be finishing their shifts at 6:00 pm. Please be aware that a late fee of £1.00 per minute will be applied if you arrive later than your designated pick-up time or after 6:00 pm. We understand that unexpected delays can happen, and we ask that you inform the nursery as soon as possible if you anticipate being late. This charge will only be applied if lateness becomes a regular occurrence.
  • How do I apply for my child to attend the nursery?
We believe it's important for you to visit the nursery and see it for yourself. If you’d like to give us a call, we can try to arrange a tour at a time that suits your schedule, as well as our children’s routine and maintain staff ratios. This visit will give you a clear idea of what your child will experience throughout the day. If you decide to choose us after the tour, we will arrange two settling-in sessions for your child. The first visit lasts 30 minutes, during which you can complete paperwork with your child’s new keyworker while your child stays in the room to play. The second visit is for 2 hours. After this, we can discuss a suitable start date for your child.
  • Do you let children bring pack lunches?
For the health and safety of our children and staff, particularly those with serious allergies, we do not accept packed lunches or any outside food on the nursery premises. Any food brought from outside must be disposed of before entering and should not be kept in children's bags. Our kitchen staff prepare fresh, balanced, and nutritious meals for snack, lunch, and tea every day at the nursery. It is essential that all allergens and dietary requirements are clearly stated on the paperwork, so we can accommodate your child’s needs appropriately. The cost of meals is included in our full and half-day rates, and a consumable charge will apply for meals if you are not paying the full or half-day rate.
